Explore the history and cultural significance of corn, wheat, and sacred foods through an engaging panel discussion held at Latino Arts, Inc. This event complements the Day of the Dead Ofrendas exhibit by inviting guests to discover the indigenous significance of corn and its ancestral roots alongside the fusion of Christianity and Eurocentric culinary traditions introduced through wheat. The expert panel discussion with local chefs will delve into the rich history, textures, and meanings of two of the celebration's most beloved culinary elements: corn and Pan de Muerto. Attendees will learn about the layers of history, tradition, and cultural heritage that define the Day of the Dead from its Indigenous roots to its colonial fusion. Tickets for this in-person event include a light lunch. Please note that all sales are final and the event has a no-refund policy. The session is scheduled for approximately 90 minutes in the heart of Milwaukee's Latino Arts community center.
